The Scoop On Hockman: Bailey Hockman started out his college career at Florida State. He redshirted in 2017 and transferred out of the program prior to the first game of the season.
A Powder Springs, Ga. native, Hockman was considered a four-star recruit in the 2017 recruiting class. He was ranked No. 186 in the ESPN300 and was a consensus Top 15 pro-style quarterback in the 2017 class.
He originally chose Florida State over offers from North Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia, among others.
He chose to transfer from Florida State this fall. He participated in the 2018 Garnet and Gold Game, leading the Garnet team to a 31-20 win.
Hockman completed 11-of-22 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Why NC State? “I like the coaches and the system in place. NC State is a great school, and I’ll have a chance to really compete for the starting job.”
IPS Take On Bailey Hockman: Hockman is a talented quarterback prospect.
Sources indicated he had a legit shot at winning the Florida State job, which says a lot given Deondre Francois and James Blackman each had a starting season under their belts going into the competition.
A left-hander, Hockman can make all the throws and is a mobile quarterback who can operate as a dual-threat with his running ability.
He enrolls in January with a chance to win the Wolfpack’s starting quarterback job.
