IPS Take On Shyheim Battle: Battle continues the trend of late where college coaches target bigger prospects at corner.
A couple of attributes come to mind when scouting Battle: physicality and athleticism. Battle showed all season that he doesn’t mind being physical from his defensive back spot. He also proved to be a weapon on special teams and at receiver in 2018. His ball skills should serve him well as he transitions to a full time defensive back at NC State.
Battle is still learning the position and will need to time to refine his cover skills and learn technique, but the tools are definitely there.
