Opening Statement...
I was really proud of our staff and guys... though tit was a good team win.

We wanted to dominate the line of scrimmage and play physical football against a team that had been very good on their line of scrimmage on defense.

No running back had 100 yards rushing on the season [against Florida State], and it was really a demeanor challenge for our guys, and I thought they rose up.

The demeanor of our guys, tight ends, running back, o-linemen on offense, was awesome. To have 15 plays in their backfield, which created some takeaway opportunities we were able to capitalize on was outstanding.

I thought our special teams gave us good field position.

I thought Ryan really played a good football game.  He really managed things well. He got us into some good run-game checks against their blitzes.

Jakobi had a nice game. He made a bunch of plays and continues to be a really good route-runner.

I thought Cary Angeline made a really nice catch, Thayer had a fourth down catch, and Kelvin continues to make plays for us. I thought Kelvin really blocked well.

It was great to have Ricky back on the field and he and Reggie, in combination with each other, is really good for our run game.

The o-line, the six guys who played up front plus Dylan Autenrieth sorted out a lot of blitzes. The coaches had them ready.

Defensively, the interception by Larrell was a big-time play.

Stephen Griffin in his first start forced a fumble and got us going.

Teshaun, for a true freshman, really played a really good football game at corner.

Our pass rush with Lyas and Alim was better... adding those guys in.

Chris Dunn had a great day for us and will continue to because he's very consistent.

Military Appreciation and our last Senior Day for our seniors... we will honor our seniors before the game Thursday night and hope everyone can be there. It's a special group of guys to pay tribute to.

Bradley Chubb is coming back to have his jersey number honored and put up there with the greats we've had. It's a great thing for us, and we're glad he can make it work. His family will be here as well with it being his bye week.

Wake Forest is very good at what they do. 32 points per game, almost 450 yards per game... They are unique with their RPOs and the way the QB rides in the run game. They isolate people in coverage.

We expect to see quite a bit of QB run from them with the injuries they've had. The two remaining quarterbacks are very athletic. Jamie Newman, we've had at camp and know a lot about him. He's a big, strong kid with a big arm. He can run, a 230-pounder.  Kendall Hinton we've seen a lot of film on as a quarterback the last four years.

Dortch leads the ACC in all-purpose yards. He's a dynamic player and really good. He's fun to watch and difficult to play against. He's the guy without a doubt, who can do things for them on offense.

Their outside perimeter receivers are big and do a good job of tracking the football.

They have four starters back on the offensive line.

Defensively they play hard. They strip the football, keep the ball in front of them. Statistically they haven't been impressive but when you watch their effort and how hard they play, in a short week to get ready for it all is a challenge.

Is Greg Dortch similar to Jaylen Samuels... the way they use him compared to Samuels?
No, he's never in the backfield. Jaylen Samuels is a different player.

He's an incredible slot receiver. They throw a ton of bubbles to him... he's a really, really good slot receiver and really tough. He makes a lot of plays as a returner.

Do you have to remind your group about how much this one stung last year?
Probably not, but I will.

Is this an instance of the system being where it is for them regardless of quarterback?
There will be some adjustment, obviously.

We've seen both of these guys play quarterback.

It's a short week, it will be hard for them to change too much. You can't re-invent the wheel, you have to trust your schemes and play ball. It's a great opportunity for those two guys.

More on Wake's system with a new quarterback...
It's hard to say because I don't know their gameplan, but the way we look at this game, we need to go be us. We need to play the way we played Saturday. We played fast, were aggressive, didn't beat ourselves, didn't have penalties...we played tough, fundamental football.

It comes down to us being good technicians and executing our game.

More on the defensive line depth. How much does the improvements add to the starters playing harder?
I don't think it has anything to do with how they play. We have a rotation and certain guys like Xavier has a role.

Roseboro played nose guard that game because we had two nose guards out... he was one of our players of the game and it says a lot about how selfless he is. Working his butt off... he's a 270-pound kid who was taking on 600-pound double-teams. He's a tough kid.

They don't look at the snaps as he's making a play. They are excited for him. They know being fresh is a part of being a defensive lineman.

I was breaking down Wake the other day and it was play 105 in a game. You can't do all that as a d-lineman. You need to have a rotation going.

More on Chubb's honor and what it means to have him around.
I think it's awesome to have him here. We had BJ here last weekend, Nyheim came back during his bye week, Jacoby Brissett was here.

It says a lot when they want to take their one-week off to come back here. It says a lot about the way they feel about their alma mater, the coaches who coached them,a nd the players they've plaed with.

BJ Hill is hanging in our hotel Friday night and wants to eat breakfast with us Saturday morning.

If I'm a young player at NC State seeing all these guys hanging out that would say something to me. These guys have a lot of money now. They can take their off week and fly to the Bahamas if they want to, but they are here watching us play football.

Do you expect Shug and E to play?
I hope so. They are both way better, but we haven't had a practice yet, but I hope so.

Did the end of the first half go the way you wanted it to go... 1:15 left you used a timeout; left FSU time to go get a score.
I don't think we were that tight when we did it, but before the deal we had said if you're tackled inbounds to call a timeout here.

You don't know.  You hope you're going to score right, but you don't know. Ideally we'd run it down to one second and score a touchdown but you don't know that will happen.

You did score on the next play.
In that case I wish we hadn't used it, but had we not?  Ultimately we want to score a touchdown in that situation, but we don't want them to either.  We have to stop them.

We used the timeout because we felt like if we get stopped and the clock is running we don't want to be rushed and make a wrong call. You want to make sure you have the right call made there and not be rushed to make the right call.

More on Ricky Person...
In an offensive scheme when you are fitting runs different... Reggie is different than Ricky. The ball is getting there at a different speed, Reggie is running over people and Ricky is putting his foot in the ground, cutting, and bouncing.

That change of pace helps and it keeps those two guys fresh... it was great having him back and obviously we'll continue to have that the rest of the year.

Thoughts on Deonte Holden getting an additional year...
The thing that's impressive about him through all of it because there were times the doctors told him, "We don't know if you should keep doing this."

He said he doesn't quit anything, and he's really hard-headed in a good way. He won't quit.

His foot was bad and he was getting bad information. To his credit, he's come a long way. He's done a great job academically here. You've always seen he has the bigger picture in mind.

A really neat deal for him to be able to play like this and get a sixth year because he really has missed three years of football due to the injuries.
