Finley: "We're Going To Do What We Do"
NC State senior quarterback Ryan Finley met with the media today to discuss the upcoming game against Clemson.
What are your thoughts going into this Clemson game?
I'm excited.
I'm excited to go down there and give it my all.
Do you think the bye week right now is a good thing?
I think it's a good thing. I do think it's a good thing for us because our team is very experienced. We have a lot of guys left over from going down there two years ago.
It's just exciting. It's a great challenge for us, a great opportunity.
Do you want to get the ball out quickly?
We're not going to do anything different. We're going to do what we do.
How can the short-passing game neutralize their pressure?
They bring a lot of stuff, and we're good at dinking and dunking. We have a lot of talent to throw the ball too with that short, intermediate stuff.
We'll let our guys make plays.
Your offensive line did a tremendous job last year.
Yes, our o-line is protecting very well. Those guys work really good together.
Coach Kitchings and coach Ledford will have them dialed, and Garrett will have everybody dialed.
How much more importance do the close losses put on this one?
I don't think it makes it anymore important. I think it's a big game because it's the next game.
What do you learn from those two games?
We can't beat ourselves.
Coach Venables is given credit for being creative. How many different blitzes do they give you?
They do a lot and that's a reason they are so successful. He's a really good defensive mind.
It's exciting to watch them on film. We'll go toe-to-toe with them and it's going to be an exciting game.
He's a great coach and when you play coaches like that and schemes like that you have to trust what you do.
Is there a key to facing them?
Yes, execute what we do.
Where does Death Valley rank in terms of home crowd?
It's an exciting place to play. There fans are awesome, and it's loud.
It was definitely an exciting place to play.
Do you prefer that more?
Of course. We want energy in the stadium and that just makes it all the more fun.
