LOCKER ROOM REPORT: Wolfpack Players
Several NC State players met with the media after No. 23 NC State's 28-23 win over Boston College.
Senior Tailback Reggie Gallaspy Jr.
“I just knew that I just had to play to my strengths and just keep running hard and be more physical.”
“It felt great knowing that they can rely on me in those tough situations. I was tired, but it was good knowing that they trust me in a situation to put the game away.”
“Me and Ricky, it’s a competition. We battle it out. We try our best to be the best we can be individually, and then we try to beat each other. We try to beat the other in yards and stuff like that. That competition has shown on the field with both of us being explosive. So us being competitive is really helpful in the running game.”
Junior Wide Receiver Kelvin Harmon
“It feels good. The defense is really coming together, playing as a whole and as a unit. They definitely bailed us today. I think it was a great team win.”
“We were trying to stay positive and trying to keep our foot on the gas, knowing that big plays were bound to happen for us to seal the game. A lot of guys on our staff had huge catches in the game also. We just kept knowing that, as a receiver unit, we were going to make some big plays.”
“It just tells you how we are. We’re going to keep playing until it’s :00 whether we’re down or whether we’re up. It’s a tough game, we made it tough on ourselves, but we still came up and finished it out.”
Senior Defensive Tackle Eurndraus Bryant
“It’s really good. We play off each other, so whenever they’re not doing as good as they’re supposed to, we’re there to back them up just like when we’re not doing good, they’re there to back us up. So it’s like carrying our momentum from them.”
“It’s a lot of confidence. It gets everybody going. Also, it’s good as a whole. It feels good to be out there with the bond with the brothers you’ve got. It all carries on.”
“That was the emphasis: stop the run. Once you stop the run, you play the pass and play the rest of the gameplan. But our whole objective was to stop the run.That’s what we tried to do today.?
Junior Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers
"I felt a lot better today so I am back."
"It is not fair because even when you do your best to guard [Harmon] he can still find a way to make the catch. If we just give him a chance, he is going to come down with it. It helps that we don't get double-coverage really because one of needs attention."
"We pride ourselves on being really good on third down. Now we are trying to work on being the best we can in the red zone. It is definitely something that we talk about all week. We have a whole practice designated to it [third down conversions]."
"A round of applause to the defense. We put them in a lot of tough situations. They kept fighting. They kept holding their ground. I appreciate them -- the way they played. I definitely think this is a game we'd have lost in the past. It shows the character of this team."
"We have got to be resilient I think we definitely showed we can take all of the punches."
"They impressed. Ricky keeps coming out and showing they can make plays. Reggie can always handle his load. From where it was the first game to where it is now, they are just constantly improving every week."
Senior Linebacker Germaine Pratt
"I am going to say we want to stop them from scoring. We pride ourselves on stopping them from scoring and getting better as a unit."
"I think we can take it day-by-day and get better as a unit because we are a good football team. There is talk outside but inside we know what we have got great pieces on offense and defense. We just keep getting better each and every day."
"It was kind of weird but we got the job done."
"We are going to do our best regardless of the turnovers and stuff. When we are on the field, we know we have got to get a three-and-out and get the ball to the offense in a great position to score."
"I think it is huge. People are banged up. Some pieces need to get better. We are just looking at ourselves as individuals and then getting better as a unit."
