Doeren: "They Are Excited"
NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media one final time before the Wolfpack's season opener against James Madison. Check out what he had to say.
Because of the heat on Saturday how much do you see yourself rotating at position groups?
The ones that we can, we will.
The guys that are ready to play we will rotate. There are several guys at certain position groups you feel that way about.
I'll have to see how it goes. These guys have practiced now in three weeks so I'd say we're as prepared for the heat as you can be.
Any update on Stephen Griffin? How he's done in practice this week?
Stephen is doing great. He's doing great. It's good to have him back.
Are there any random disciplinary actions that we don't know about?
If I could tell you about them I would.
It will be a surprise for us if there is right?
I guess, if you call that a surprise.
What did you learn from Will's situation and the five players involved with the Title IX process? What did you learn from it?
Anytime something happens that you've never been through it's an opportunity to grow.
I just followed the procedures and asked the administration and people I talk to on campus how to handle it.
I followed everything. That's the best thing you can do.
Will's was different. It's something I've been through many times, but the Title IX investigation is something you'll turn over to the authorities, let them handle their job and stay out of the way. When asked, be a part of it, and when not asked, stay away from it.
That's the best thing I can do and be supportive as I could be to the guys that were here as long as they were here.
Do you sense your defense is ready to prove to the public that there isn't much of a drop-off?
Anytime the media attention is about who is gone instead of who is back you're going to have a chip on your shoulder.
It's an opportunity for those guys to prove themselves, and I know they are excited about that opportunity.
