COMMIT ALERT: Martin Picks NC State
NC State landed a major commitment this afternoon from East Forsyth (NC) four-star safety Khalid Martin.
"(At NC State) I think they're going to make me a better player and make me a better man. They made sure it was about academics from day one. They're tough about football but when it's time to hit the books, it's time to hit the books. They made sure the relationship with me, not just me but also my family, was close. Coach Henry reached out and made sure he was cool with my mom, cool with my dad and they've just been on point from day one."
Martin, who had nearly 20 scholarship offers, had recently cut his list to NC State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and App State.
He also held offers from Penn State, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Maryland, and Duke among others.
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Martin checks a lot of boxes.
He has the length and athleticism to cover in space. He's versatile enough to play either of the safety positions, and he has the size and physicality to slide down to nickel if necessary.
He has been a top target for the Wolfpack for several months, and is rated a four-star prospect by 247.
Martin is NC State's 19th commitment in the 2019 class, and he has indicated that he has plans to enroll at NC State next January which could give him a chance to potentially play as a true freshman for the Wolfpack.
Inside Pack Sports will have more on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
