August 16, 2017

NC State H-Back Jaylen Samuels and defensive end Bradley Chubb were both chosen to Sports Illustrated's Preseason All-America Team. Samuels was a first-team honoree as an all-purpose back, while Chubb was tabbed on the second-team on the defensive line.
SI write-up on Samuels:
What are we supposed to call Samuels? A freakishly athletic tight end? A gadget wideout? A fullback? Whatever he is, he's nearly impossible to gameplan for when the Wolfpack offense is feeding him the ball. The 5' 11", 223 pound hybrid weapon has tallied 14 receiving touchdowns and 15 rushing touchdowns over the past two years.
Earlier this summer, the Wolfpack's senior duo were also selected to the Athlon Sports 2017 All-America squad.
On the national awards watch lists announced before fall camp started, Chubb was named for the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy while Samuels received honors for the Maxwell and Paul Hornung Awards. Both players were also named to the 2017 All-ACC Preseason Team.
Samuels was the Pack's leading receiver (55 catches) and third-leading rusher last season. He ranks sixth in school history with 31 touchdowns – 15 receiving and 16 rushing.
Chubb ranked fourth in the FBS in tackles for loss last season. His 22 TFLs in 2016 was the second-best mark in school history, trailing only No. 1 NFL draft pick Mario Williams.
