COMMIT ALERT: Knight Joins The Fold
NC State just landed a huge commitment this afternoon from Southern Nash (NC) tailback Zonovan Knight.
The talented in-state speedster picked the Wolfpack over offers from Virginia Tech, Duke, Tennessee, Illinois, Purdue, Louisville, North Carolina, and Virginia among others.
Knight was previously committed to Duke but opened back up his recruitment earlier this spring.
On film, Knight is clearly one of the top athletes in the state capable of impacting in a variety of areas.
Lining up as a slotback in the triple-option based offense, he rushed for 1,877 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2017. He averaged 13.2 yards per carry, and through two varsity seasons he has totaled 3,019 yards and 50 total touchdowns.
Knight is the Wolfpack's second running back commitment, joining Rome (GA) star Jamious Griffin.
Both players have the size to be three-down backs and the skillsets to work as the primary runner, a change-of-pace back, and/or a slot receiver/receiving threat out of the backfield.
Given NC State is losing Reggie Gallaspy to graduation and redshirt freshman Erin Collins chose to transfer, landing two backs is critical.
Inside Pack Sports will have more on Knight's decision in the near future so stay tuned!
