The 2026 MLB Draft is ongoing and you can follow where all of NC State's players/signees are selected through the Inside Pack Sports Draft Tracker.

SUNDAY: First baseman Chris McHugh has been selected in the 11th round by San Diego.

Pitcher Cooper Consiglio is headed to Philadelphia.

Infielder Sherman Johnson was just picked in the seventh round by the Cincinnati Reds.

Pitcher Ryan Marohn is off the board in the fifth round to Pittsburgh.

So is infielder Luke Nixon, who was picked 10 spots later by the San Francisco Giants.

SATURDAY: The first Wolfpack player selected was star centerfielder Ty Head, who was picked No. 46  overall by Baltimore.  As expected, look for Head to ink professionally and not play for NC State given his high draft selection.

Pitcher Jacob Dudan also went off the board on day one, as he was picked No. 83 overall in the third round by the Athletics.  Dudan will sign as well as he’s recovering from injury.

As each NC State player is drafted we will update the the tracker below so you can follow along throughout the day!

POSITION PLAYER ROUND PICK TEAM
Outfielder Ty Head No. 2 No. 46 Baltimore Orioles
Pitcher Jacob Dudan No. 3 No. 83 Athletics
Pitcher Ryan Marohn No. 5 No. 140 Pittsburgh Pirates
Infielder Luke Nixon No. 5 No. 150 San Francisco Giants
Infielder Sherman Johnson No. 7 No. 212 Cincinnati Reds
Pitcher Cooper Consiglio No. 9 No. 279 Philadelphia Phillies
Infielder Chris McHugh No. 11 No. 335 San Diego Padres

Congratulations to both Ty Head & Jacob Dudan.
I think Dudan if he can regain his arm strength and velocity has clearer path to the Show. A's are always in rebuilding mode and will be in Las Vegas by time Dudan is ready for a September call up to majors.
I read Orioles, also always in rebuilding mode, have a backlog of young outfielders so will be crowded and longer process for Head to make it up minor league system. End of the day, both will get opportunity to advance and MLB farm teams are usually a meritocracy. A player who performs moves up or if no room above is used as trade bait into an organization that will utilize their skills at the next level up.

Any juniors we could get back?

I haven't been paying the closest attention to baseball this year, are we expecting any of these dudes to return? I have to imagine getting picked in the top 5 rounds, especially the top 3, would make it unlikely to see them return.

nope. things could get interesting if a guy like McHugh goes in the 15th round or so with the new 5 to play 5 ruling, but no one drafted so far will be back.

Coop goes in round 9 to the Phillies

Through 10 rounds, no Alm or Mchugh (only bringing up McHugh because they talked about him on the pod). Rounds 11-20 starting now

Chris McHugh round 11, pick #335 to the Padres.

probably gone but if he can utilize that 5th year, wouldn't be the worst idea to come back (but I doubt he does, but I don't know squat lol)

Now that MLB teams can offer 150k to anyone they draft without it counting against their pool, I would assume that any college player drafted is gone unless there is a pretty big asterisk around them (guy who was injured all season and thinks his stock can go in the Top 3 rounds etc)

I would think team already has deal in place if they are selecting you. Round doesn't matter, if you hit the asking price. I wouldn't expect McHugh back.

Edit: For college guys, HS guys are completely different for later rounds since teams will take them incase they can't sign an early rounder stud.

No Wiggins no Andrews. It seems like Wiggins might be the type to sign as UDFA but we'll see

Padres have started a trend of drafting State guys the last few seasons.

Keith Law is bringing some heat for the Pack about the Duden Injury-

I really loved the Athletics' draft, probably the most I have in a long time, as they ended up with four players in my top 48, and third-round pick Jacob Dudan would have been ranked higher had he not blown out his elbow after NC State ran up his pitch counts.

Generally considered to be the best Indy League. If you look at rosters, a huge majority of the players have played affiliated at some level. And they have several (like dozens) get signed by affiliated teams out of the ALPB each year too.

Believe its basically teams with no Major League affiliation. So you arent moving through the major league affiliated minors. You are over here in a separate category. But you can do well and eventually get a Major League team to sign you to come over to their affiliated minor league team. Its kind of a minor league to the minor league (probably to simplified explanation as you could skip some rungs of the minor divisions A, AA for example)
