RELEASE: NC State Releases New Word Marks, Customized Font

Simple. Modern. Bold.

With those concepts in mind, NC State Athletics announces additions to its official Athletics marks, the result of a collaborative and comprehensive brand position process with apparel partner adidas.

"I appreciate the good work done by our creative team and adidas to develop a unique font and word marks for use by NC State Athletics on uniforms and in key branding and strategic communications areas," said NC State Director of Athletics Debbie Yow.

The brand position included the development of a new proprietary and customized font, the "Wolfpack Font" which will be used on team uniforms, within NC State Athletics facilities, and on the majority of marketing and branding collateral. The Wolfpack Font was used to create new "NC State" and "Wolfpack" word marks.

The Wolfpack Font will be exclusive to NC State Athletics and is inspired by the Univers family of fonts used by NC State University. It provides a modern take with noticeable touches such as fangs within the lettering and numbers.

Research done for the brand positioning more clearly identified the traits of a wolfpack to be incorporated into future uniform and branding campaigns, such as wolves' ferocity in attacking with their fangs, an element factored into the font design.

The new font, which includes alphabetical and numerical options, will be gradually adopted over the course of the 2018-19 athletic year. Additional information regarding when apparel with these new marks will be available will be communicated in the near future.
