Caden Fordham: "Anytime We're Out on the Field, We Expect to Give up No Points"

NC State LB Caden Fordham met with the media after the 41-7 loss to No. 15 Miami.

You guys are on the field constantly, especially the first half. Is that kind of what you think, kind of like some of the troubles on the defensive side? 

No, I mean, yeah, but I mean, at the end of the day, it's our job to stand up and play defense. It's what we're put out there to do. We don't expect to, just give people points, so it's on us. 

We got to be better. We got to hold them. No matter what happens, if we're on the field, we expect to give up no points, so credit to them, they're a good team. But, yeah, no, anytime we're out on the field, we expect to give up no points, so that's on us. 

Miami had a lot of players, obviously, that could bite you because there's a lot of depth on there, from Pringle to Malachi, Toney and Carson Beck. As the game went on, how difficult was it to defend against those guys since they could beat you in so many different ways? 

Yeah, I mean, they're good players. They got good players that are going to make plays sometimes, too, so, I mean, yeah, they're a good team, but at the end of the day, I mean, they got what they got. We got what we got, so we got to go play ball, and we don't expect nothing less than to go beat any team we play, so.

So you surprised that it wasn't a more competitive game? 

Yeah, I mean, obviously, I want to go out and win every game. I want every game to be a competition. We went out there and obviously didn't get the end result we wanted, but, yeah, every game I go out and play, I expect to win and dominate and, make it a competitive game.

Was there anything tactically that they did that maybe shocked y'all or surprised y'all? 

No, I mean, everything they did, we practiced, so coaches prepared us well. It's on us to go execute.
