Okay, they kind of pulled away there in the second half. From your point of view, what did you see, sir?
Yeah, I mean, we just came out in the second half. I mean, we had some miscommunication. We just didn't get it done. It's simple. I mean, we've got to play complimentary football. We haven't done that yet all year, in my opinion. I think we're a great team, but we've got to play complementary. We haven't done that yet this year, so that's it.
How tough is it to keep going back out there as a defense when the offense just can't really get any drive again?
Yeah, I mean, it's tough, but I mean, all of us love to play ball. So, I mean, we're going to fight for them just like they fight for us. I mean, we're a team at the end of the day, so we're going to play together, and we're going to keep going back out there and giving it everything we've got for those guys.
That was a nice insight, Coach, to hear him say that.
Yeah, I mean, basically, we just have to play complementary football. Obviously, we came out and played hard. We haven't put a full game together where we can compliment each other. We've got a lot of ball left, so we've got to buy in. We've got the bye week coming up. We've got to get healthy and come back and finish off the year.
Speaking of which, what are you going to do during the bye week?
Yeah, I mean, we've got practices. We've got to practice and then, obviously, recover. It's a big thing to get some guys back healthy.
You mentioned not having really played complementary football here. What do you think it takes to get to that stage this year?
Yeah, I mean, we just got to buy into each other, believe in each other, play our rules that our coaches tell us. They give us a perfect game plan every week. We just got to go out there and execute.
Did Notre Dame do anything surprising?
No, I mean, everything we practiced on defense, I mean, they did.
And then it was 7-7. I guess they got the field goal right there at the end. How were you all feeling at halftime? It was a game.
Yeah, I mean, we were feeling good. Like I said, though, we came out the second half. We just didn't play complementary football. We came out and didn't play ball like we needed to.
What was the biggest difference, you think, between the first half and the second half, just on the field?
Yeah, I mean, really, they got going a little bit on offense the second half, and we couldn't get it to turnovers, too. Just complementary football, I think. That's why I keep saying that.
