As NC State looks to bounce back against FCS opponent Campbell, here are several key Fighting Camels to keep an eye on heading into this week’s matchup.

#6 QB Kamden Sixkiller – 6’4, 205 – Redshirt Sophomore

Sixkiller is off to a career-best start, throwing for 1,098 yards with 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He also adds some mobility, posting 112 rushing yards and 2 scores, though his average sits at just 2.8 yards per carry.

The only Power Conference defense he has faced came in 2024 at Texas A&M, when he went 9-of-19 for 80 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in a 52-10 loss while at McNeese State. This week will be a good test against an NC State defense that wants to rebound.

#5 HB JJ Cowan – 6’0, 210 – Sophomore

Cowan has been productive in the backfield, rushing for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns at 4.2 yards per carry. He hasn’t been much of a receiving threat, with just 24 yards through five games. NC State will look to keep him from breaking off big runs.

#0 WR Randall King – 6’2, 205 – Sophomore

King is the top target in Campbell’s passing game, with 333 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season. He averages 11.9 yards per catch and brings size and length to the position.

He also contributes as a returner, totaling 160 kickoff return yards this year and owning a career kickoff return touchdown in 2024. A Rocky Mount (NC) native, King will be making his first appearance against a Power Four defense.

#3 LB Kalen Villanueva – 6’2, 235 – Redshirt Senior

Villanueva leads the Campbell defense in tackles from his linebacker spot. After previous stints at Louisiana Tech and UConn, he’s settled into a starting role this season.

A former three-star prospect, he has 38 tackles so far and will play a big role in trying to slow down NC State’s ground game.

#12 CB Donavan Philord – 5’11, 190 – Redshirt Freshman

Philord has been a solid contributor in his first year as a starter. He has 19 tackles, 1 interception, and 4 passes defended through five games.

At 5’11, he could face mismatches against NC State’s taller receivers. Philord could be played in the slot and outside this week.
