On his first college game...
It was a lot of fun. I wasn't too nervous because I knew it was my chance to show everybody what I had. But it was fun being out there with my guys. We've been practicing for a while and it was just a good opportunity for us.

What is that relationship like with CJ already at this point?
We've been friends on and off the field. He trusts me and I trust him. And I feel like having a relationship off the field means a lot on the field. When things get hard, we know how to talk to each other and get back right.

How much did that point drive you at four straight catches? How much did that just help you settle into the year? Just knowing that he's comfortable to keep going back to you?
Yeah, I mean, it felt good because it kind of felt like high school again. And it gave me a lot of confidence on the field. And I knew that, when he needed a play to be made, if he looks my way, I'm going to make the play.

You know, it's easy for coaches to say that a freshman will play right away. But Coach Doeren has a proven track record. How appealing was that when you kind of saw that he does play through freshmen?
Yeah, he did tell me a lot during the recruiting process that I’d get on the field early. But you have to earn it. And when you get here, you got to work hard. And that's what I did every day with my head down. And I'm excited for the future.

What was the response like back home after the game?
A lot of people calling and texting and stuff. It was just a blessing. I'm really happy to be in this position that I'm in. And I was happy my mom and dad could come and watch me play, too.

How encouraging was the rest of the wide receiver room after your first game?
They were very encouraging, proud of me, happy for me. And I mean, anybody on the team could go off at any moment, just whoever the play is called for, really. We have a very talented room. All of our guys are ready to make plays.

Did you watch Virginia?
Yeah, I have.

What are your impressions of them?
I think they're a good team. They got pretty good corners. One of them is really long. Good team, but we're going to game plan and take care of them.

As a freshman, what's your next step? What can make you a better football player in your aspirations?
I think, based off last game, just blocking. And, you know, when the ball's not coming my way, doing the right thing every time. Just the little details. Route depth. One of the routes, it looked like CJ was late, but it was really, I ran the route too short. So little things like that.

Some people were surprised at how well you did on Thursday. Should they have been?
I mean, if they were surprised, that's nice. I wasn't surprised because, like I said, we work hard every day. And I thought I was ready for the moment.

What was it like to see your first experience at Carter-Finley. Seeing close to 60,000 people.
It was amazing. It was very loud. I've never been in an environment like that before. I never actually took a visit here or watched a game before, so it was really special.
