RALEIGH, NC – First half goals from Donovan Phillip and Nikola Markovic helped NC State defeat Queens, 2-0,  in the men's soccer opener at Dail Soccer Field. The Wolfpack has won its season opener in six consecutive seasons.

NC State had the Queens defense on its back foot for most of the first half. NCSU created several chances throughout, but it was Phillip who broke through for the Pack with exactly 23 minutes remaining before intermission.

Markovic completed the scoring 16 minutes later when he buried a long cross from Isaac Heffess into the back of the net.

NCSU returns to action Sunday at home against Wofford with the match set to kick off at 6 p.m.

Tried to listen. Got through about :90 but that *******ed Wagon Wheel playing in the background is unbearable.

What was the official count on the crowd at this game? It was very big. Looked like a couple hundred people were sitting in the grassed areas.

Really big home game in a couple weeks on Friday, September 5th (7:30 pm) against UNC. I've already seen promotions on their official social accounts, to encourage fans to beat the single-match home attendance record that was set last year (~4,000) at this game. I'm planning to be there.
