2026 LB Zykir Moore Commits To NC State: “That’s Where I Want To Be”
NC State has just landed a commitment from 2026 linebacker Zykir Moore out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Moore picked the Wolfpack while on his official visit in Raleigh on June 7.
What was it about his experience on that visit that convinced him NC State was home?
“It was just a lovely time out there, especially coming from the north. It’s just a different lifestyle. It’s lovely down there,” Moore explained.
“[I was impressed with] the coaches and how in their presentation they were so big on family. They actually care and want to have a genuine relationship with you.
“The fanbase is crazy. I feel like NC State is like the SEC—always sold out. That’s where I want to be.”
When searching for a comparison for Moore in NC State linebackers of the recent past, one might turn to one of his future position coaches, Isaiah Moore.
Beyond the shared last name (they are not related), Zykir Moore has similar measurables coming out of high school. At 6’2 and 220 pounds, the younger Moore is a tall and athletic middle linebacker who aims to play similarly to the elder Isaiah.
“My strengths are my instincts. Once I see ball, I get ball,” Moore said.
The two Moores have developed a strong relationship throughout the course of Zykir’s recruitment.
“He played at NC State, so he has that experience. I can ask him real questions. Four-year starter, three-year captain. Played at the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s somebody I want to be close with.”
Moore also referenced DJ Eliot’s professional experience as another factor that led to his decision.
“He just came from the Eagles,” Moore said of the Wolfpack defensive coordinator. “I want to be coached by somebody I know can develop me. He wants me to be the next big Payton Wilson.”
Eliot’s plan is to slot Moore at the inside Will backer position, relying on his athleticism to take on blockers in the run game, play in space against the pass, and rush opposing quarterbacks.
“I love the scheme and how they run their linebackers,” Moore said. “One thing I’m working on this summer is working on my hands and getting off blocks as fast as I can so I can get ready for the next level at NC State.”
Moore plans to enroll early at NC State and says the Wolfpack beat out the likes of Toledo, Syracuse, and Boston College for his commitment.
Once he steps on the field in the red and white for the first time, Moore says he plans to represent NC State the right way and put on a show for those watching from the stands and at home.
“The fans will see a hard-working, caring individual that’s going to have them tuned in to the game. I promise.”
247Sports lists Moore as a 3-star prospect and a top-100 linebacker in the nation.
