We've now surpassed the 2024 portal (5,090) with 5,124 portal players.

Feels like 6,000 is in sight.

- 25 teams already have more than 20 players in the portal
- 173 teams have 10 or more
- 151 teams have 0 players in the portal

Every coach in every sport, under current conditions, has a one year roster. What a freaking mess. A contract system has to be established to create a marginal degree of continuity.

I completely agree. If we are treating them like professionals, and we are, then have them sign legally binding contracts. Pick your term length and let the money depend on the term. Being "free agents" every single year is the worse option….. almost impossible for coaches.

In my opinion, a year-to-year agreement is the only thing the players will agree to unless otherwise mandated by some governing authority. The players are going to play the game to their advantage as long as they can because it's a seller's market right now. That doesn't mean a team or player can't agree to a long-term agreement, but the players are in the driver's seat.

Wonder how long it will be before teams are trading players?
