POSTGAME BASEBALL TALK: Stetson

Even if Frito doesn't give up a single run, we still got beat 4-2 rest of the way. This team loses today and heads home early. They don't have what it takes to advance this year. Embarrassing last couple of weeks for sure.

I wouldn't say embarrassing, but I do think that what we are seeing from this team lately is more what we are than the midseason spike in great play - ie regressing to the mean, and our mean is not that great this season... Not embarrassing though - down seasons happen. I would say we overachieved this year in a down year.

We only lost 3 of 10 ACC series. Just an odd season. But I will take our series record in a down year.

I agree, it was a super odd season to me, as well, and I should probably restate "not that great" to not as good as our record. Baseball is so much about timing of when you play who and how teams are playing in that moment. We played Clemson when we were at our best, and they were in a bit of a slump. We played Miami when they were streaking and we went cold. We are not playing winning baseball right now and haven't in about a month.

Regardless, the odds of us winning three games in two or three days, when we have only won 3 in the last month in total, seem exceedingly low. I hope like hell we go out and play good baseball the next couple of days, as I don't mind playing well and losing, but playing like we have been playing - just call it losing baseball, is rough to watch. Hope the team collectively pukes and rallies today - would love to see us have a "get right" game, and go into game 3 with a different mindset! LFG Pack!!!!
