Central Connecticut is the fourth seed in the Auburn Regional, and here is a deep dive on the Blue Devils ahead of their matchup with No. 1 Auburn on Friday.

Season Overview

Central Connecticut State finished the 2025 season with a 31-15 overall record and a 23-7 record in the Northeast conference. Central Connecticut enters the Auburn regional as the NEC Conference Champions, beating LIU twice to win it.

Team Stats

RPI Ranking: 183rd
Home Game Record: 15-5
Away Game Record: 13-9
Team BA: .331 (4th Nationally)
Team OBP: .437 (5th Nationally)

CCSU's offense has a team batting average of .331, ranking 4th in the country, and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .437, ranking 5th. The top nine hitters have a batting average of .329 or higher, with Aidan Redahan (2B) having the highest batting average of .458 in the country.

Standout Players

Aidan Redahan (1B & DH)
  •  .458 BA (1st nationally), .513 OBP (15th nationally)
  •  Leads team: 9 home runs, 69 RBIs, 17 doubles
  • 24 walks (4th best on team)
Brady Short (SS)
  • .483 OBP (3rd best on the team)
  • .329 BA (8th best on the team)
  • 52 hits & 17 RBIs
  • 8 stolen bases (Tied for 3rd on the team)
Kyle Gordon (OF)
  • .377 BA (2nd best on the team)

Pitching Staff

  • CCU's standout pitchers are Vincent Borghese (10-2, 89 strikeouts, 4.22 ERA) and Drew Munn (8-2, 50 strikeouts, 4.34 ERA).
  • Despite starting six different pitchers this season, Borghese and Munn lead with 14 and 13 starts respectively, and they are the only 2 pitchers on their roster to play a complete game.
  • Only Drew Munn has pitched a shutout game.
  • Wyatt Cameron is the only player on the team with 5 saves making him the relief pitcher with an exceptional 1.93 ERA.
  • Central Connecticut lacks a dominant pitcher but could be a team to watch if their pitching heats up during the regional.

Central Connecticut Keys to Success

  • Start Vincent Borghese (RHP) in Game 1 and keep him in for the duration of his effective performance.
  •  Focus on the team's hitting capabilities to score more runs and maximize RBIs by being more aggressive with base stealing.
  • Minimize defensive errors to increase chances against Auburn.
  • Stay mentally tough for Auburn's hostile environment.

Unfortunately Redahan is a senior, so I don't think he'll have eligibility left after this season.

Either their hitting coach is a savant, they played a bunch of crappy pitching, or some combination of the two. Their 8th best hitter is hitting .329. That's wild.
Just a guy on the sunshine squad.

Agreed, I don't think I've seen a team with that efficient of a hitting order. Looking at the stats from other pitchers in the NEC, the best ERA was a 3.49, and the 2nd and 3rd was a 4.09 and a 4.10, which is average at best.

Interesting. My initial thoughts looking at the roster are their coaching staff must be incredible.

Well, I'd assume it wouldn't be easy to hit that well with bad coaching staff either.

Leaning towards more of the reason that their roster doesn't include a bunch of P5 transfers. Looks like a bunch of local CT guys. Impressive.

I coached little league though middle school up there when I lived in CT from 2010-15. The baseball is pretty damn good and they take it seriously.

Impressive indeed, maybe their fanbase will travel well if that's the case.

That must have been fun! At this point I hope they beat Auburn for NC State's sake.

It's very old fashioned America up there especially eastern CT all the way up to Boston

Sounds like a very rural type of vibe up there.
