Wolfpack Earns Three All-ACC Honors, Two Named to All-ACC Freshman Team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three NC State baseball players earned All-ACC honors, as the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday afternoon. Sophomore first basemen Chris McHugh was named to the All-ACC Second Team, while junior pitcher Dominic Fritton and sophomore pitcher Ryan Marohn earned All-ACC Third Team honors. Relief pitcher Anderson Nance and outfielder Ty Head were also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
Fritton and Marohn received honors for the first time in their careers. McHugh, who was named to the All-Rookie A10 team while at VCU in 2024, earned a spot on the Second Team in his first season with the Wolfpack.
Chris McHugh | So. | 1B | Second Team All-ACC
Chris McHugh earned Second Team All-ACC honors after finishing the 2025 regular season with a .377 batting average, which was third in the conference with seven home runs, 47 RBI, and 42 runs scored. He led the Wolfpack with a .474 on-base percentage and worked 21 walks. He also achieved a .995 fielding percentage. McHugh played and started 48 games this season, only missing the final series against Stanford. McHugh is the first All-ACC first baseman since Gino Groover in 2022.
Dominic Fritton | Jr. | SP | Third Team All-ACC
Dominic Fritton earned Third Team All-ACC honors after leading NC State with 78.1 innings pitched and 96 strikeouts. Four strikeouts away from reaching 100 in a season would be the most strikeouts since Carlos Rodon had 117 in 2014. Fritton held opposing batters to a .256 batting average. This is the second All-ACC honor for Fritton after was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team in 2023.
Ryan Marohn | So. | SP | Third Team All-ACC
Ryan Marohn earned Third Team All-ACC honors after pitching 77.1 innings and throwing 81 strikeouts. He limited opposing batters to a .253 batting average and started all 13 games he appeared in. Marohn also threw two complete games during the 2025 season and was named ACC pitcher of the week earlier following his performance against Canisius.
Fritton and Marohn finished the regular season among the top 10 in the ACC in innings pitched. NC State is the only school in the conference with two pitchers in the top 10 in both innings pitched and batters struck out.
This is the first time since 2004 that NC State has had two starting pitchers named to an All-ACC Team, as Vern Sterry and Michale Rodgers received All-ACC First Team honors that season.
Anderson Nance | Fr. | RP | ACC All-Freshman Team
Nance was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after leading the Wolfpack bullpen with 49 innings pitched. Nance holds an 8-1 record with a 2.94 ERA and 48 strikeouts entering the postseason. He is one of seven freshmen in the country with eight wins. It is the most by a Wolfpack freshman since Sam Highfill won nine games in 2021. Highfill shares the record with Carlos Rodon, who went 9-0 in 2012 during his freshman campaign. Nace joins Jacob Dudan as the only Wolfpack relief pitcher named to an All-ACC Freshman Team.
Ty Head | Fr. | OF | ACC All-Freshman Team
Ty Head was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. He finished the 2025 regular season with a .274 batting average, two home runs, 15 RBI and 22 runs scored. Head already has a place in the record books with 48 walks in a season, which put him in a tie for sixth in the top 10 in program history for most walks in a season. Head also turned in a defensive highlight reel in center field.
Head becomes the first Wolfpack outfielder since Tyler McDonough in 2019 to be named to an All-ACC Freshman Team.
NC State's postseason will begin on Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in Durham for the ACC Championships. The Wolfpack enters as the four seed and receives a double-bye. NC State will take on either No. 5 Clemson or the winner of No.12 Virginia Tech and No. 13 Stanford.
