Hunt: "We Were Able To Get Into Different Offenses"

NC State senior guard Sam Hunt answered questions from the Wolfpack's radio crew following the Wolfpack's win at Syracuse.

POSTGAME RADIO INTERVIEW: Sam Hunt

Sam, 4-of-6 from the three-point line.  This is a late game. Are you thinking zone, zone, zone? I get to play a zone tonight?
We've been thinking about it all week. Coach went over the zone and how they played it, trying to find the open gaps.  We were able to come out and make shots against the zone.

You made that first three in the second half, did that give you confidence?
Like any shooter, you see one go in and it's like the rest are going in all the way.

My teammates were able to find me and I was able to get open looks, so I give them credit for finding me.

You can't give them a steady diet of the same thing.  Were you able to do a good job of keeping them off-balance with what you were running?
We ran a couple of different plays throughout the whole second half and first half that opened up the zone from spacing it, penetrating it, driving it, screening the zone... we were able to get in different offenses throughout the whole game.

Did you keep Battle and Howard from doing what they wanted to do in the second half?
Those are two really good guards.  In the second half we locked in better. We've had struggles getting beat off the dribble, but we had gap protection and rebounded at the end.

Is there always a feeling you'll keep fighting and put yourselves in a position to win?
There is.

That's how we prepare everyday in practice. Practice is tough. We work on getting three stops in a row so the game is easier. It comes from preparation. We base ourselves on grit and being hungry at the end of the game.

Tell us about that last timeout before Markell Johnson hit that big three?
We were saying get stops, defend, and end with a rebound.   

If we can defend we can score the ball because of how fast we play.
