NC State tied Appalachian State, 0-0, in the season opener for both schools. The Wolfpack returns to the pitch Sunday at home against East Carolina. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. between the in-state rivals.
Head coach Tim Santoro and midfielder Jaiden Thomas addressed the media following the stalemate between the Wolfpack and the Mountaineers. The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. graduate student logged 39 minutes on the pitch in her return to play after missing the 2023 season due to injury.

The "fad" is nothing new among people who follow the sport globally, and is just a natural result of England (as well as several other European nations) being far more advanced in the way they play and coach the game than the U.S. I say that as a guy pushing 50 who has played and coached the sport my whole life right here in NC. They invented the game and have a much longer and more rich history with it so it is to be expected that we would follow their lead when it comes to jargon, much like they probably do in some other areas of culture where the U.S. is dominant.

I assume we can expect an official name change to "Dail Soccer Pitch" at some point in the future.
