NC State Adds A JUCO Outfielder, Loses Transfer Portal Addition
NC State picked up a commitment from JUCO outfielder Jet Gilliam, but lost a commitment with Dalen Thompson choosing to return to Campbell for his final season.
Gilliam was a star his first season at Southern Nevada, hitting .348 with six homers, six doubles, and six triples. He knocked in 43 runs as well, earning all-region honors for his play.
This summer he played for Kingsport in the Appalachian League, where he batted .299 with two home runs, eight doubles, and 22 RBIs in 28 games.
He will enroll in the fall with three years of eligibility remaining.
Gilliam is capable of playing all three outfield positions, which is big given the loss of Dalen Thompson, who hit .313 with 10 home runs, 20 stole bases, and 47 RBIs this past season for Campbell.
He originally committed to NC State in June, but announced today on Instagram he’s returning to Campbell.
