We just talked to Coach Anae about the weapons on this offense. What is it like to be one of those weapons on this offense and see so many other guys around you that are doing similar things to you?
Yeah, it feels great. Now we got weapons all around each side. We got depth that I've never seen before. We got guys that can do everything, so it's good. You don't have to rely on just one person to make a play. We got multiple guys that can make plays.
Has the transition been as seamless as you thought it would be?
Yeah, the transition's been great. All the guys have been very welcoming.
It's been a smooth transition. The playbook, I've learned more about the playbook. I've learned the offense and it's been smooth, so.
How far along do you think you've been in terms of learning the offense? How well are you doing?
I'm doing good. I would say the offense is a lot easier to understand than Wake Forest’s offense, so it's been going good.
Can you speak to the relationship that you've built and maybe the chemistry with Grayson over these last few months?
Yeah, Grayson's a great dude. Me and him get along really well. We throw every weekend, go get lunches, talk, and just catch up on life. He's just that guy that I can learn a lot from. So I kinda just see where his head's at. So we're on the field, we're just out there playing ball.
You speak to having all the weapons around, whether it's running back, wideout, whatever it is. And how much does that push you guys in practice, knowing that there's a lot of guys out there in your unit? How much does that push you guys?
It pushes us every day when we're competing. I mean, even with the DBs, we've got great DBs pushing us every day, making us better. So we're just iron sharpening iron. We got a lot of depth at all positions. I feel like we got guys in every position that can make plays, and it'll be fun to watch.
We've heard your name quite a bit over the last week plus, as far as what you've been doing on the field and how you've been preparing for the season. What is it like to know that the hard work that you're putting in is paying off, too?
Yeah, it's really good. I'm putting a lot of intent into the season. I'm trying to handle myself like a pro and just kind of just be professional about everything. I'm just trying to keep a routine and just handle myself as a pro, really. And just coming out every day early, stretching, taking care of my body, just doing all the little things that go a long way. That way, when the season comes, that's kind of just another example.
What's it like being on the same side with Noah Rogers?
That feels great, you know? He's one of my close friends, so just playing with him again, just kind of like old times, just to help him have fun, joking around. But then we make each other better, we're competing with each other, and it's great, it's just fun to play with each other.
Between now and the first game, where's the growth? Where do y'all need to get better? What are you looking to get to?
I feel like just all areas. In terms of wideout, we're just working on everything, just catching everything, blocking, just sharpening everything. That way, in the game, it's kind of just routine. We don't have to clean anything up. So right now, it's just all areas, just little details we're trying to clean up.
