COMMIT ALERT: San Diego Shortstop Justin DeCriscio Picks NC State

NC State just landed a big commitment from San Diego transfer shortstop Justin DeCriscio.

DeCriscio hit .308 this season with three home runs, 13 doubles, and 42 RBIs.  He is regarded as a terrific defender as well, turning 19 double plays last season with just eight errors at shortstop.

Went to HS at Orange Lutheran which is a baseball factory in Southern California. Gerrit Cole went there as well.

Kid can play. Watched SD play a couple games in the tourney this year.

bottom 3rd unless his walk rate picks up and that OBP jumps up there. Great bat to have at the bottom of the order, doesn't strikeout, can bunt and has speed to do some things with while on base and turning over the order.

The number of kids looked at/offered is fluid because conditions can change at any moment. NC State has obviously been active but if a .400 hitter, 25-homer guy, or a 10-game winner enters the portal the priorities may change.

NC State is going after infielders (depth), pitching (always), and then best players available that can potentially contribute. They would like either a speed or high average guy for leadoff.
