NC State Shortstop Brandon Butterworth Selected By San Diego

NC State shortstop Brandon Butterworth has been selected in the 12th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.

Butterworth, who spent one season in Raleigh after starting his career at Western Carolina, hit .250 this season with seven home runs, 13 doubles, and 33 RBIs while flashing an elite-level glove at shortstop.

He has one year of eligibility remaining but is expected to sign with the Padres.
