We have all our best available. Go out and show it. If we don't, have no one to blame but ourselves.

I agree with Alex. There needs to be an early hook. No dig on Whitaker but don't mess around. Have Dudan up at the first sign of trouble

Why wait for the first sign of trouble?
If Dudan is our best dude, why can't he start? If we have 3 legit studs, go out and show it.

Start a freshman that has never pitched in a game of this magnitude over a 5+ year guy like Whitaker? Yes we have 3 legit guys. Dudan and Smith have never gone over 50 pitches in a game. Get 3 plus from Whitaker then Dudan, then Consiglio then Smith

How many games has Dudan started this year?

Zero.

Different mindset with starting. Also, he's good for 3, maybe 4 innings right now in his career. I'd rather those come at the backend of the game.

Dudan has thrown over 50 pitches in a game 4 times this year.

Zero.

Huge difference in starting and coming out of the bullpen

Fair enough, I'm not a baseball expert (insert digs as needed), but to me, seems like we want our best guy having the ball with the game tied since it's a one game season now. I get it though, maybe it's a recipe for disaster to make drastic changes.

I like Whitaker's chances against UGA. Guys that throw hard do not seem to bother them....have to move the ball around, change speeds, etc. i'm not sure Dudan is going to blow them away like he has most teams. I'm hoping Whit can give us 4 innings giving up no more than 2 runs.

No digs necessary.

It's just a completely different mindset starting the game than coming in and trying to finish it off.

Plus, (and this is my opinion) Logan is the guy you want in this spot to start this game. I could very well be wrong (won't be the first nor last time I was wrong about something) but he'll give us 4-5 innings, especially if his changeup is on point tonight. Then you bring in contrasting style of Dudan and Smith to close it out.

Guys have to step up, obviously.

Dudan's slider will give them fits. That thing is NASTY.

Big difference in being our "best guy" and being our best reliever.

Hardest three outs are the last three, not the first three.
Just a guy on the sunshine squad.

Whitaker has a better changeup then Sam does and that's the pitch that gives Georgia fits. I expect him to have a big-time game. He's going to get strikeouts and he's going to battle. He was really good in the postseason last year against good, power offenses.

Agree. Biggest deal is not to walk guys. Give up 2 or 3 solo HRs if necessary.....but cannot walk a guy and then give up 2 runs on one swing. Whit's fast ball is up a few mph this year too....he now throws harder than Sam with a better change. Has to control it.

He does not control it well enough IMO. If I'm facing Dudan, his slider is a do not swing pitch until I have 2 strikes. If he gets 2 over, then I'm in trouble, but I would sit fastball and attack it vs trying to hit his slider early int the count.

Our bats have to show up and give Whitaker a cushion to work with.

Yep- all this talk is diddly squat if we don't hit tonight. Our big 3 need to show out tonight. In the end I think Cozart wins it for us tonight with a HUGE game, and we make it count by getting runners on ahead of him and not letting them pitch around him! 9-7 Pack tonight! The year of the Wolfpack continues!

I disagree but I can definitely see where you're coming from with that observation.

An 88-90 mph slider that falls off the table is tough action and good luck laying off that.

Look back at Rodon's slider. It was a swing and miss pitch. Very rarely was it over the plate. A bunch were buried outside the zone. That's were Cozart comes in. Framing and blocking.

DRock's is the same. Just falls off the table and in 0-2, 1-2 counts you want to throw it in the dirt. Nasty.

That's what makes it such a great pitch

And both guys throw it in the zone and as a chase pitch.

I love the differential in speeds from DRock.
