I really don't follow college baseball very close lately. Looking at our team ERA and starter ERAs is offense just crazy in college again like in the 90s?

Pretty much. Out of the 17 Super Regional Games played so far only 2 games the winner had less than 7 runs. 13 of the 17 winners had 10 or more runs

Honestly to a point where it's dangerous.

9 has pretty much been the number all year in the ACC. I think the average pitcher ERA per one of our recent broadcasts is 6.50 (?) across the country.

The ERA was mentioned in either Friday or Saturday's game as part of an overall discussion about increase in exit velocity and danger to the pitcher. Macdonald is promoting a change to the ball to slow things down and limit the offense.

Why did they change the ball it was a better product when it looked like real baseball.

That stadium in Omaha has a prevailing wind that blows in that was a stadium design issue.

That had nothing to do with wind, my friend.

I mean they literally changed the baseballs because of that swing haha.

Really cool info. For those in the know, I found this quote interesting from that article…

"Also important and worth noting, the new ball isn't expected to increase risks for pitchers and other players. Though the drag effect comes into play on balls hit long distances, the exit velocity will remain unchanged on baseballs with only different seams. "

On yesterday's broadcast (at least I think it was yesterday), the guys calling the game were talking about dangerous exit velocities for pitchers. The quote above contradicts that. Have there been other changes since 2015, or are these new concerns an unforeseen byproduct of the changes made back then?

Interesting, imagine if they had switched to the pro ball it's even more lively than what they switched to.
