Yurtseven: "It Was Frustrating"
NC State sophomore center Omer Yurtseven met with the media after the loss at Virginia Tech.
General thoughts...
I wasn't able to do anything from the bench. It kind of got me frustrated, sitting there and watching them get a lead on us. I stayed for four and a half minutes and got back in the last two minutes.
It was frustrating. I don't like how refs can impact the game so much. I don't think my first and second fouls, I'll accept the third one, but the first and second, I don't think they were the right calls. But you have to accept it and go with it.
I tried to come back in the second half and make an impact, try to get a lead, but we couldn't get stops against Robinson and the other guys.
What are your thoughts on the defense?
We had to have a guy who would step up and say I have Robinson or whoever... we just have to take pride in what we do and get a stop. We couldn't do it tonight. We just have to work on it.
Were you surprised at how well Robinson did at penetrating the lane?
I felt like they were a better three-point shooting team, that's what we prepared for... once they saw a lane they kept attacking. Pick-and-roll defense, one-on-one, we did a poor job defensively.
Fast turnaround now to get ready for Carolina at home. What is the message?
Next home game, we have to defend home court. That's the mentality. They'll be trying to get revenge on us.
I heard some weird comments from the other team's players, but I don't really care what they say. We beat them at their home. Now they will try to come back at us and beat us at our home.
We'll be ready for them.
Were those shots directed at you?
No, I heard it in the media... just talking.
