No. 12 NC State has been named as one of the 16 host teams for the 2024 NCAA Baseball Championship Tournament. The selection, announced by the NCAA Sunday evening on social media, gives the Wolfpack its first hosting bid since 2018.

The Pack (33-20, 18-11 ACC) is one of five Atlantic Coast Conference teams to earn one of the top 16 national seeds for the tournament. No. 7 North Carolina, No. 16 Virginia, No. 3 Clemson, and No. 10 Florida State will all host regionals in the first round. The ACC’s five bids are tied for the most of any conference in this year’s College World Series with the SEC also securing five regional hosts.

The full bracket for the tournament will be unveiled during Monday’s NCAA Selection Show which begins at noon on ESPN2. NC State will host its watch party at Sports & Social in the Fenton shopping center off of Cary Towne Blvd. at 11 a.m.

ECU gets a bid despite their tough finish and Wake and Duke are left out in the cold. Interesting. That seems to show how little the committee values the conference tourney performances.

I assume Duke is in the 64, but their facility does NOT meet ncaa requirements to host. Wake too?

Wake has hosted before at current facility

Yep. Wake hosted a regional and super regional just last year, so it has nothing to do with their facility. I think it came down to the NCAA not wanting to put more than four games in NC.

Wake probably would've hosted most years, but they were 15-15 in conference, and only had 8 Q1 wins in 22 opportunities. There's also the issue of the committee not wanting all the hosts in a small geographic area.

At first I was like Wake can't be in Clemson's region but then I realized they are just listing the seeds in order.

That's not who would be in our region, that's the ranking of each seed

They're gonna send LSU to Raleigh solely for the storyline.

Agree. Record and geography got them this year. The stadium size had zero to do with it, which was my point. I will not be surprised to see Wake get sent to ECU.

Duke can host at DBAP. Pretty sure they've done it before, and the Bulls are away this weekend, probably to allow for that. They got robbed. Their RPI is like 7 spots higher than ECU (and don't even mention Arizona). Strange decision.

Duke deserved to host, probably Wake as well. State has the fewest wins of any hosting team, reflecting our midweek struggles, but the committee must have valued both the RPI and the Q1 wins. We definitely deserved to host.

Yeah, Wake's basketball arena and baseball stadium were gifted to them from the city of Winston Salem. Wake paid pennies on the dollar for those facilities and the land on them.

I was thinking Wake or Duke to ECU as well, which should happen. With the way ECU is playing that "Should" be a winnable region if it happens.
