Who Did He Pick NC State Over? Washington State, West Virginia, and UAB among others
IPS Take On Val Martin: Val Martin was NC State's last commitment prior to signing day, as he picked the Wolfpack while on campus last weekend for an official visit.
He's a very, very good late pickup.
First of all, having three years to play three seasons is always a plus for a junior college prospect. He'll be able to enroll and have the chance to play three full seasons.
On film, his quick-twitch athleticism and burst are impressive. Martin is a run-plugging nose tackle... he's a rush tackle who can beat blocks and be disruptive behind the line of scrimmage. He has violent hands, can shed blocks, and will push the pocket from the interior.
Martin didn't play a lot of football in high school, and he still has room for growth, which should be intriguing to the Wolfpack coaching staff.
NC State needs defensive linemen ready to play right away, and Val Martin has a chance to play in 2018 in Raleigh.
