Davin Vann: "I Want To Work On Finishing"

NC State star defensive end Davin Vann is set to the lead the Wolfpack defense in 2024, and he recently met with the media to discuss spring practice.

“I didn’t like where they had me going, what round they had me going, and I felt like there was a lot more I could do before I left here.”

“Talking to scouts and stuff it was on the lower end, fifth or sixth, something like that.  Not where I wanted to be.”

“I want to work on finishing. One of my biggest issues is I kind of fade out in games, so I guess consistency.”

“I’m working on getting my weight back. I kind of lost a little weight during the system, but it’s coming back.”

“It’s a little weird being the only older guy really in the room.  We only have two or three older guys on the defense as a whole, which is weird, but it’s something new. I’m looking forward to it.”

“It’s real exciting. However many older guys we have on the defense, we set the tone, the standard.  We kind of lead by example, so we’re able to, not really build a new culture, but build off the culture we had before.”

“We focus on hanging out, outside of football. Lifting weights, watching film together, going out to eat, just hanging out and having fun with each other... building that strong bond.”

“I would say it does.  I struggle with patience sometimes and that’s something I’m working on, but I think it helps a little bit.”

“I think it’s cool. In our dime package [Sean Brown] was really efficient and effective at linebacker so I think it’s a real good change up for him. I think he’ll be able to make a lot of plays at linebacker.”

“I think I’m more vocal now. I don’t really like to talk too much, things like this make me nervous, but getting comfrotable and talking in front of the team is something I’m thrilled with.”

“I have a great first impression of [Grayson McCall].  The first time I met him was study hall. That was the first time I got to talk to him for real. He’s a great guy, and he works hard, too.”

“I’ll watch the film and see what they are talking about.”
