Willadsen Injured, Out Indefinitely

No. 13 NC State right-handed pitcher Matt Willadsen is reportedly out of commission due to an elbow injury and will be inactive for the start of the 2024 season.

The Holly Springs native elected to return for his senior season after posting a 5-5 record, a 3.78 earned run average, and 86 strikeouts in 81 innings last year, starting in all 16 of his appearances. Sources within the program have confirmed his injury status but say that the extent of his injury is unknown.

Well that sucks. Hopefully the young man can recover quickly and won't miss out on the entire season. Hate this for him!

He's not used a redshirt, so he'd be eligible for one if he misses the season. If he ultimately plays, then it'd be in the NCAA's hands (which means, 'Don't hold your breath').

Hearing freshman Jaxon Lucas is looking good. Also, keep Lucas and family in prayers.

Willadsen being out hurts. Hate it for him and his family. Great young man.

Regarding Jaxon, his dad passed away. Avent said it on first day of practice interviews last week

His Dad battled ALS for 3 years and was a young man (49) when he passed. His Dad was active in coaching in Garner for many years. Very sad.
