D.J. Horne

“When you see the ball start going through the net for some of your teammates, it doesn’t even have to be yourself, it opens it up. It gets contagious, and that happened again tonight. It started for us and I felt like it carried on for the whole team.”

“Now that I do think back, I know we went on a long stretch where we didn’t score the ball and they started coming back into the game. Those moments are what we’re trying to figure out, we know we can’t have those against good teams.”

“Our identity has always been defense. We’re always going to rely on that even when shots aren’t falling. We got enough stops tonight to get the win.”

“He was big, man. [Michael O’Connell] does so many things that might not show up on the stat sheet, but it definitely plays a part in us getting wins. That’s why he’s on the court, we need him. That’s my point guard.”

“It’s very important. In the ACC you definitely want to protect your home [court]. I think we’ve dropped two so far, and our mindset right now is that we can’t lose another one.”

“We knew that if we kept playing defense the way we know we can that the game wouldn’t get too far out of hand. That was our mindset, keep playing defense and get stops.”

“That was big time. He’s always aggressive out there. Whenever he goes out there in that mindset, it’s big for our team. It’s always great to watch.”

“Being able to convert off turnovers, it makes the game much easier for us. Getting going on the turnovers, it’s a great benefit for us. It’s something we need to bring every game, not every other game.”

“Everyone contributes. Every game is different.”

“It means a lot. I put a lot of work into my game. Reaching 1,000 points is a great honor, especially to do it at this university.”
