Do you see it as a challenge to re-invent the offense?
There are challenges everywhere, every week, every turn. There are injuries, position changes. I just felt it was fun to be refreshed after the bye week to get to our better football.
How proud are you of the young men since the bye week?
I’m really proud of the growth.
What stands out to you?
5-0 is probably top of the list. Guys are playing more efficiently, and I believe what Payton said is exactly spot on. We’re playing for each other.
It turns out... if we can cap it off with this one, going into the bowl and continue playing for each other. This will be a hard year to put behind us... pretty special.
What makes KC so special?
I’ve asked him that question, and in his own words he’s said he’s Ironheart. That’s how he described it, so I’ll leave it at that. He’s Ironheart.
More on the win streak...
A lot has to be said for outstanding head coach direction. I’ve been a part of a lot of teams with the back up against the wall, and coach Doeren and the leadership of the group was outstanding.
That takes a lot of skill. From a leadership standpoint, I thought excellently done.
How does it feel, as a coach, to make an adjustment and see players go out and execute?
It’s fun to be a part of it. It’s very fun and exciting.
What is your favorite Pop Tart flavor?
My favorite Pop Tart is cherry.
Frosted?
Yes. I’d be disappointed if a Pop Tart wasn’t frosted.
10 wins, is that a goal you speak about?
That’s the goal and it is out there. That is the goal and that is the purpose.
What would your vision be of the offense going forward?
The way it’s going. We’ll re-evaluate in January and put our best foot forward from there.
There will be a lot of competition for spots and playing time. I look forward to that new group, that new team, that new deal we’ll start in January.
