Notable Pack Football Roster Changes
NC State has updated the official roster heading into spring practice, and there have been several notable changes.
Aaron Wiltz Receives Medical Hardship
NC State offensive lineman Aaron Wiltz is no longer on the roster, and a school official confirmed the redshirt sophomore has received a medical hardship.
Wiltz has battled multiple leg injuries during his time in Raleigh, and he didn't play at all in 2017.
He missed the first three games of 2016 due to injury before returning to play the final nine games on special teams during his redshirt freshman season.
The 6-foot-5, 307-pounder will remain in school and pursue his degree, but his scholarship will not count against NC State's 85-man scholarship limit.
Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Wiltz was expected to be a contributor at offensive guard.
Mid-Year Enrollees Added To The Roster
NC State added eight scholarship players and a transfer walk-on in January to the roster for the spring. All nine players have been added with official weights and assigned their numbers.
The preferred walk-on is Eric Collins, a transfer wide receiver from Mississippi Valley State. Collins is the younger brother of NC State redshirt freshman tailback Erin Collins. Collins played in nine games in 2017 for Miss. Valley State, totaling 13 catches for 174 yards and a touchdown. He'll be a redshirt sophomore in 2018.
The nine additions are six true freshmen, two junior college transfers, and Collins.

Multiple NC State players switched jersey numbers to those available after transfers and seniors have departed the program.

Parting Shots
* Redshirt sophomore cornerback James Valdez, who missed all of the 2017 season with a knee injury, is now listed as Markel Valdez on the official roster.
* Redshirt junior Tyrone Riley is listed as an offensive tackle. He previously played defensive end.
* Because he played as a true freshman, nickel Freddie Phillips was able to redshirt last year after suffering a torn Achilles in the season opener. He's now listed as a redshirt junior and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
