Shyheim Battle: "It's A Great Scheme For The Defense"

NC State cornerback Shyheim Battle discusses his recent play, the upcoming matchup against Virginia Tech, and much more with the media.

“We know they are a run-heavy team that depends on their run game to get things doing.”

“They want to get us there, get the ball rolling, and open up the offense.”

“It’s a lot different than Wake Forest... with Virginia Tech they are more trying to bring the ends up the field and pull the ball if they see a crease.”

“It makes it harder on us. We have to know he’s a factor on the field. He’s not going to just throw the ball... maintain eye discipline... he’s definitely a threat for their offense. We have to keep an eye on him.”

“I love playing Wake Forest. They have very good wide receivers and I know they are going to try me.”

“We got the win, that’s all that matters.”

“We compete every day.  Aydan, that’s my dog, that’s my brother. Ever since we came in we’ve been competing, trying to get better.”

“We love competing against each other. Why not?”

“I expect that from him.  He’s a big dude and he believes in himself, I believe in him, the coaches believe in him... shutting him down definitely helped us win the game.”

“We were ready to roll. Coach Gibby is bringing the energy and we feed off of him. He’s letting us go. We’re just some loose dogs out there playing ball.”

“It’s a great scheme for the defense.”

“We earn his trust everyday in practice.”

“He believes in all 11 of us.”

“We know we have two games left. It won’t be an easy way to end the season... we want to win this week.”
