NC State edge Davin Vann recently met with the media to discuss his play this season and the upcoming matchup against Miami.

“That’s a goal for us every week, to improve the amount of takeaways we have... it’s a big part of our gameplan.”

“Thinking of that feeling after that loss, it doesn’t feel right.”

“He’s a good quarterback, but it hurt letting someone who is just now starting do what he did on us. That hurt our pride.”

“I think it is, and playing him before, it’s a lot different.”

“We executed the plays we needed to execute and made our layups. All week we stressed doing the little things right, and the way we practiced showed in the game.”

“They’ve played huge roles in our defense with injuries... especially Sean Brown who came in and played linebacker and took some reps for Payton after he suffered his injury.”

“Being able to keep guys fresh; not just me, but the whole d-line. It’s good having a whole extra lineup.”

“I love it, having Red right behind me. I think it’s great competition. It makes me want to be better every week. I don’t want to end the season with Red ahead of me in sacks, so I want to catch back up and take the sack leader.”

“Another thing going into that week, we stressed not letting big plays happen, but if it does happen, get the ball down.”

“We took a lot of pride in that, and I think it showed.”

“Coming into this week, we’re focused on practicing like we lost. Last week we practiced real hard... this week we’re trying to simulate that same thing, not really get too high on the win and stay focused on how we prepare.”
