“I’m excited about it... I grew up watching SMU when they were in the old Southwest Conference.”
“We all try to recruit kids in Texas so that will help, and also Stanford and Cal have had quality programs. To add them, and add that west coast market, I think it will be fun. You have some new faces, new challenges, and I’m excited about it.”
“It may be where you play everyone once and have one rival game where you play home and away and flip it each year. I think that would be a great way to do it if that’s what happens.”
“Those teams are going to just add to what you’re trying to accomplish with the NET.”
“Right now our pod is really strong, so anything we can do to avoid playing all those teams twice is fine with me.”
“Boo was very open about it and kept us very informed of what was going on.”
“We try to recruit to our system... a year ago we didn’t have freshmen, so this year it does make you go back and re-teach things.”
“It rejuvenates you having young people again.”
“I think the veterans are doing a great job of trying to serve as sort of assistant coaches on the floor, pulling the freshmen along to make sure they are learning the ropes.”
“I think at NC State that is always your expectation. We want to try and compete for an ACC championship and hopefully have a high enough ranking and position in the conference where you can host the first and second round of the tournament.”
“We have Mimi Collins. I think she’s drawing NIL, cost of attendance, and maybe social security also. It’s crazy. Some of them have been around as long as I have.”
“You still want to go after the elite high school players. The difference now is... you have to weigh do I really want to take this player or wait on the portal.”
“Do you want to sign this player to help with your depth or hopefully hit a home run in the portal?”
“That’s where the portal is, it helps you fill a gap and with some experience.”
“In our case we felt like we needed more size and depth at that position, and Lizzy gives you that length and I think here offense is getting a lot better. That and then KP, getting her from Sacramento State, a great three-point shooter, over 40 percent, and we wanted that at our four position.”
“We are excited about them... they all are going to be really good players. How fast can they grow up and handle the transition... it’s a big jump from high school basketball to playing Power 5 basketball at an elite level.”
“The league is at a great spot right now, probably as deep with talent as definitely I’ve ever seen it. Now when a kid goes in the portal they are going to look at ACC schools. It’s a great conference.”
“We’re excited about our freshmen but they are 18 years old.”
“It was a top 10 recruiting class. They all bring different things to the table.”
