COMMIT ALERT: Harris Commits To NC State
Missouri freshman point guard Blake Harris informed Inside Pack Sports that he has committed to NC State.
"I just thought it was the best fit for me and my family," Harris said of his commitment, adding he made the decision a couple of days ago. "The coaches were excited about it. They are ready for me to get situated. "
Harris enrolled at Missouri last fall and averaged 3.8 points, 3.3 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and a steal in 13.9 minutes per game. He announced his decision to transfer a week ago.
"I didn't think it was the right fit," he said. "I didn't think I needed to stay there. Coach Keatts is a great coach, and I can finish my career there."
NC State already has multiple point guards on the roster, but that didn't impact the decision Harris had to make.
"State has a lot of guards, but I'm more of a pass-first guard," he said. "The others we have are better shooters and scorers, so I think we can all mesh well. I'm not worried about the guard situation at all. We'll mesh and have a great backcourt playing together."
Harris added that he plans on enrolling at NC State this week. He will sit out the spring and fall semester and should be eligible to play at the conclusion of the fall semester.
"I'm ready to get to started," he said. "I can't wait."
Harris was originally recruited to UNC Wilmington by Keatts and assistant coach Takayo Siddle, and he was offered a scholarship once Keatts arrived at NC State but chose to attend Missouri.
The 6-foot-3 point guard was a Top 100 recruit out of Raleigh (NC) Word of God Academy.
