REPORT: Star Freshman Cannon Peebles Enters The Transfer Portal

According to a report, NC State star freshman catcher Cannon Peebles has entered the transfer portal after a breakout season.

Peebles led the Wolfpack with a .352 batting average, .697 slugging percentage and a .456 on-base percentage.  He tied for first on the roster with 50 RBI and ranked second on the team with 12 home runs in just 142 at-bats.

Peebles primarily served as a designated hitter with the Wolfpack already having one of the top catchers in baseball, Jacob Cozart.  Cozart has another year of eligibility remaining.

Welp. I know there is a lot of work that could still be done for State in the portal, but this one is huge.

Cannon is a great player who wants to play everyday. Do you sit Cozart? This is very understandable. Nothing pathetic about it! It is just the way college sports are now. I hate it too, but no need to criticise anyone! Go Pack!

Players want to play...we just have 2 good catchers...it's understandable that he would want to find a role on the field as well. Good luck young man!

If he wants to get drafted highly he needs a solid body of work as a catcher

Teams aren't going to spend a higher pick on a guy who has limited college film behind the plate and has mostly played DH; bat-only prospects need to have god-tier stats to get picked highly

College sports don't suck but what is happening with the transfer portal and unchecked NIL/tampering does. We also benefit from the same rules that allow athletes to move freely. I don't like the system but still like the sports.
