This was a good listen, but I think it swung way too far the wrong way with Carter Trice. He started the season hitting 3rd and just couldn't earn it. In hindsight, we should have seen it coming. He was a .230 hitter at the Cape vs. a .322 hitter at ODU. It was mentioned here, .146 in conference play and played objectively bad defense. Maybe it is showing that he isn't cut out for higher level pitching. His career K rate is 24%. That just doesn't play in the ACC. I mean of course welcome him back and hope that turns around, but he's on a consistent downward trend since that freshman year which was obviously strong.

Also, the starters were throwing less than 80 pitches in the non-conference weekends. They have to get game reps and gear up for the conference. I don't disagree at all that some of those younger guys needed more opportunity, but both Shaffner and Halford had some rough performances that make it tough to give them the ball in bigger moments.
