The 6-foot-10, 235-pounder averaged 3.1 points and 2.7 rebounds while playing 11.6 minutes per game this season. What he put on tape led to interest from programs such as NC State, Auburn, Georgia, South Florida, Central Florida, Oral Roberts, Furman, Belmont, George Washington, and Tulsa, among others.
“I just kind of felt like the vision I had for myself and my future was probably a little different than what the coaches at Clemson had,” Middlebrooks said of entering the portal. “I was backing up P.J. Hall, and P.J. is a great player, an incredible post player, but I was being asked to play like him and we’re different types of players. I’d like to play a little less with my back to the basket and show that I have a more versatile skillset. I’m hoping I can go to a place where I can grow and work on that.”
Middlebrooks is expected to provide depth at the center position for the Wolfpack. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
