Offers Mounting For In-State 2025 QB
While most of our attention is on the class of 2024, one player in the class of 2025 has already caught the eye of NC State as well as several other Power Five schools.
The Wolfpack was the very first school to jump onboard with an offer to Walkertown (NC) QB Bryce Baker. As a sophomore Baker completed 118 of 201 passes for 1,823 yards and 20 touchdowns versus just five interceptions.
Following the Pack’s lead, Baker landed offers from Appalachian State, Louisville, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Duke.
Baker talked with Inside Pack Sports about landing that first offer from NC State as well as the offers that followed.
“It was exciting for sure (getting the first offer). It excites me to know that people believe in me and are starting to notice me. Walkertown is a 2A (school). People see 2A as not being exposure-ready or the exposure is not always at that school, but to know that people can still see me and believe in me is encouraging, really.
“It’s just humbling and it shows that the hard work I’m putting in is starting to pay off. I’ve just got to continue to be consistent and level headed, but I’m excited for sure.”
Shortly after earning the offer from State, Baker made the trip to Raleigh for the Pack’s junior day, and he said he particularly enjoyed the time spent with head coach Dave Doeren and QB’s coach Kurt Roper.
“My biggest highlight of the visit was meeting with coach Roper and coach Doeren -- just how humble they are and how into it they are with their players, just from the developmental piece. They love developing players, and those are the players in the league now.
“With the QB position, coach Roper has so much knowledge. It just triggered me to want to learn more about them.”
That was just the first stop at NC State as Baker plans to return this Friday and then camp with the Wolfpack over the summer.
In addition to NC State, Baker has also visited Wake Forest and East Carolina.
