Georgia RB Jayden Scott: "I Loved It Up There."
Todd Goebbel has proven to be one of NC State’s top recruiters. He’s only been on the running back beat for a couple of months but he’s already made a huge impact on the Wolfpack’s 2024 recruiting board at that position.
One of the very first prospects he connected with was Atlanta (GA) Stockbridge standout Jayden Scott . The Pack offered Scott in mid-January, and within a couple of weeks the consensus three-star prospect made his first visit to NC State. He talked about the trip with Inside Pack Sports.
“I loved it up there,” said Scott. “It was a great environment. I met with the coaches and they made me feel really good up there.”
This was Scott’s first chance to spend some in-depth time with coach Goebbel, and it was obvious the coach made a huge impression on the rising senior.
“I love coach Goebbel. Even as a recruit he makes me feel really good -- all the praise he gives and him letting me know how much he wants me. And regarding the scale of coaching -– he’s produced some guys that are in the league right now. It’s a really good fit, I feel like.
“I didn’t get to speak with the offensive coordinator while I was there but I got to speak with coach Goebbel and it’s an air raid offense. So, not only will I be getting a lot of carries out of the backfield but I’ll also be getting a lot of passes, which is big for NFL marketing where you can do the three big things: run, block, and catch. He said that’s how I would fit in, so that was great.”
In addition to NC State, Scott holds better than two dozen offers. It’s a list that includes Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Maryland, Kansas, Rutgers, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Boston College, Mississippi State, and Louisville, among others.
Scott will return for NC State’s junior day on March 3rd, so getting him back on campus twice within six weeks is a step in the right direction for the Wolfpack.
I’m definitely going back up for a spring practice at State. That’s one of the goals I made just talking with coach Goebbel.
So, any schools standing out currently?
“A couple would be Wake Forest -- they’ve done a great job. NC State has done a heck of a job. We have Duke; they’ve been great. South Carolina and Louisville, they could be up there as well.”
The timing would appear to be good for the Pack as Scott’s decision may not be that far down the road.
“The ideal date would be sometime in May before school ends for my junior year. But, it could easily go into the summer as well, and that would be fine.”
