Kevin Keatts: "Give Virginia A Lot Of Credit"

NC State head coach Kevin Keatts met with the media to discuss the Wolfpack's road loss at Virginia.

“Give Virginia a lot of credit. I thought they came out with a lot of energy and fire.”

“Anytime you play a very good defensive team on their home floor you know you’re going to get that energy.”

“They did a great job of controlling tempo and were very aggressive getting to the paint.”

“We fought... in the second half we made it competitive, tried to put a little game pressure on them.”

“We had our opportunities, but give Virginia credit. They did what they needed to do at home.”

“I don’t think DJ ever got in the flow.”

“We just said stay the course. He’s a really good basketball player. We need great production from him. We need it from D.J. Burns, Jarkel, and also Casey Morsell.”

“I think because Jarkel didn’t have a Jarkel Joiner night, it put a lot of pressure on Morsell.”

“This is what they’ve done for years and they did a really good job.  We wanted to catch it a little deeper in the pass, but we didn’t and it made the passes longer.”

“Reece is starting to become a really good two-way player.”

“Gardner is playing well... he’s a throwback because you typically don’t make post guys who can make 15, 18-foot shots.”

“We’re going to take off tomorrow and not let this game define who we are... Thursday we have to get back and work on us.”
