Wes Moore: "We Have To Figure It Out In A Hurry"

NC State head coach Wes Moore answered questions from the television crew following the 56-54 road win at Syracuse.

Opening Statement...
Don’t get me wrong, we have a laundry list of things we need to fix.  But tonight,w e’re going to enjoy it. We’ll worry about it next practice.

What was the message at the end of the third quarter?
You really want me to say? Again, it’s embarrasing. We’re not playing hard enough. We have to deserve to wear NC State or Wolfpack, whatever across the front of our jerseys just because of what the players before this group have done to put this program where it is.

We have to step up. We aren’t playing hard enough. We aren’t listening.  We were supposed to show pick on the ball in the first half, and I don’t think we ever did. That’s my fault. That’s coach.  Coach has to get this stuff right.

But again, we’ll try to enjoy it.

Talk about the play of Rivers and how she really stepped up.
Rivers can be an unbelievable player. Again, has lock in, has to play a little bit harder, be a little more consistent.  We gave up back-to-back layups in transition. We have guards who are supposed to be getting back and taking that away. That’s why we are one of the lowest teams in the country in transition D.

This league is unbelievable. Coach is doing a great job for them, and I knew she would. I’ve been around her with USA basketball some, and she’s doing a great job.

We have to figure it out in a hurry. It’s on me. I have to do a better job.

Coach, the bottomline is it’s win No. 792.
Oh wow.  I’m just thankful it’s win number 12.  I’m just thankful for that.
