- The NC State women's golf team will commence the 2024-25 season by playing at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, South Carolina. NC State will play three rounds of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9-10, in the tournament hosted by the College of Charleston. The team will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and play 36 holes on Monday.

This year marks the fourth straight time the Pack will open up the season at the Cougar Classic. The Pack is one of 17 teams in the field, which includes four other ACC schools (Boston College, Miami, SMU and Virginia Tech). Yeamans Club is a 71-par, 6,269-yard course.

In last year's Cougar Classic, NC State started the year by placing 13th, led by Lauren Olivares Leon, who broke the NCAA record for a single-round score with a 60 in the first round. Olivares' 13-under 200 (60-72-68) was good for third out of 96 golfer.


Olivares Leon, who is now a senior, is No. 1 in the lineup. She was tabbed to the All-ACC Women's Golf Team last season and broke the single season scoring average record at 72.18 with 13 rounds at par or better and six rounds in the 60s as a junior. Olivares Leon played in the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional and is ranked No. 66 in the WAGR.

Vania Simont is at the No. 2 spot and is coming into her junior year having played in 20 tournaments for 56 rounds. She logged a 74.80 scoring average with six rounds at par or better and two top 20 finishes as a sophomore. In her rookie season, Simont played in all 11 tournaments to compile a 73.55 scoring average, which is the eighth best in program history.

Lea Ludwig will play at the No. 3 spot, making her second lineup at NC State. As a freshman last season, Ludwig played in two tournaments to log a 77.83 scoring average and tally her best round of 74 in the third round of the Landfall Tradition. Ludwig won the 2022 Austrian Juniors Golf Tour event.

Marie Eline Madsen, playing at No. 4, is appearing in her first collegiate tournament and has enjoyed a stellar amateur career with two wins and 15 top 10 finishes. She is coming off making the semifinals of match play at the 2024 R&A Women's Amateur Championship and was the leading individual in stroke play at the European Ladies Team Championship with Denmark.

Jaclyn Kenzel is a graduate student and will wrap up the lineup at No. 5. She appeared in the lineup in five tournaments last season, logging a 76.27 scoring average with two rounds at par or better. Kenzel wrapped up last season on a high note with a career best 32nd place finish with a 4-over 220 (74-72-74) at the ACC Championship.

Starting off the season at the Cougar Classic, @PackWGolf finished 14th in a field of 17, led by freshman Marie Madsen who placed tied for sixth, the second-lowest score among all freshmen.

- The NC State women's golf team finished in seventh place out of 17 teams at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, paced by Marie Eline Madsen's third place and Ellise Rymer's 19th place showings. NC State carded a 31-over 871 (292-287-292) across the three days at Finley Golf Course, as the team played in the first women's tournament at the course since the renovation.

Senior Lauren Olivares Leon earned her third career win, as she shared the individual medalist title at the Landfall Tradition. Sharing with Florida State's Lottie Woad, Olivares Leon carded a 6-under 210 (69-70-71) across the three rounds at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington. Olivares Leon, who now is tied for the most individual wins in program history, paced the Pack, who finished in sixth with a season-best 8-over 872 (291-286-295).

Marie Eline Madsen's stellar freshman season continued, as she logged a 1-under 215 (73-69-73) to tie for ninth. She started the weekend with a 1-over 73 behind three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys. The freshman tallied her fifth round in the 60s on Saturday with a 3-under 69, which was done with minimal mistakes with four birdies, one bogey and 13 pars. Madsen was 3-over par through her first 11 holes on Sunday, but logged two birdies and six pars in her final eight holes to finish the round strong.

Caitlin Whitehead had a solid weekend for the Pack, finishing in a tie for 42nd out of 95 golfers with a 7-over 223 (72-73-78). On Friday, she logged her first round at par or better at NC State with an even-72. She did that with three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars. She followed that up with a 1-over 73 with four birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey. On Sunday, the senior logged a 78.

Ellise Rymer finished the tournament with a 10-over 226 (78-74-74) to tie for 54th. After a 78 in the first round, Rymer carded back-to-back 74s in the second and third rounds. Her solid finish with one birdie, 14 pars and three bogeys moved her up 18 spots on the leaderboard.

Vania Simont logged a 12-over 228 (77-74-77). She tied for 63rd in the tournament, logging 30 pars and seven birdies across the weekend.

The NC State women's golf team is set to play at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club from Friday, Jan. 31 to Saturday, Feb. 1. The tournament is hosted by the University of Virginia.

The tournament is across two days with 36 holes played on Friday and 18 on Saturday. The Pack will tee off at 10 a.m. Eastern and will play with Washington and Houston.

NC State is one of 12 teams in the field that features three other ACC opponents and four top 25 teams.

Marie Eline Madsen will play at the No. 1 spot and paced the Pack in the fall with a 70.58 scoring average. She logged top 10 finishes in all four tournaments, highlighted by tying for third with an even-par 210 (68-73-69) at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. She is ranked No. 46 in the Scoreboard by Clippd Rankings and No. 123 in the WAGR.

Lauren Olivares Leon will play at No. 2, and the senior is coming off a fall having the second highest scoring average at 72.92. She ended the fall slate on a high note by sharing the title at the Landfall Tradition for her third career win. Olivares Leon also received an invitation to play at the Augusta National Women's Amateur and sits at No. 50 in the WAGR.

Vania Simont played in all four fall tournaments and will make her fifth tournament appearance this season. She tallied a 75.08 scoring average in the fall with her best performance coming at the Cavalier Regional Preview where she tied for 22nd with an 8-over 221 (73-71-77).

Lea Ludwig will play at the No. 4 spot. She played in two tournaments and logged a 76.67 scoring average in the fall. She tied for 41st at the Cavalier Regional Preview with a 16-over 229 (76-76-77).

Ellise Rymer will wrap up the lineup. The sophomore played in three tournaments in the fall to log a 74.11 scoring average. Her best showing was at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, in which she finished with a 7-over 217 (76-71-70) to tie for 19th.

The NC State women's golf team had a strong start to the spring slate, tallying a tie for fifth out of 12 teams at the Collegiate Invitational played at the Guadalajara Country Club. NC State shot a 29-over 893 (296-303-294), highlighted by the final round's 6-over 294 to close out the tournament with a top five showing.

Lauren Olivares Leon paced the Pack with a 4-under 212 (70-73-69) to place fourth. In the first round, Olivares Leon was 2-over par through the front nine until logging four birdies and five pars in the back to finish that round with a 2-under 70. She had a clean card in Saturday's final round with three birdies and 15 pars to log a 3-under 69. Olivares Leon finished the weekend with 11 birdies, 37 pars, five bogeys and one double bogey, while tying for the best par 3s average (2.83) in the tournament. The Celaya, Mexico native now has eight top five career finishes and 45 career rounds at par or better.

Marie Eline Madsen followed with a tie for 16th with a 4-over 220 (78-71-71). She recovered from her worst round this season with back-to-back rounds under par. In the final round, she was 2-over par going into the final seven holes before tallying three birdies to jump inside the top 20. She finished the weekend with 12 birdies (third most in the field), 27 pars, 14 bogeys and one double bogey. The freshman also finished with the second best par 5s average (4.50). Madsen has finished in the top 20 in each of her first five collegiate appearances.

Lea Ludwig logged a tie for 46th place with a 16-over 232 (73-80-79). She earned a career best 1-over 73 in the first round behind one birdie, 15 pars and two bogeys. In the third round, she eagled hole 12 and birdied her final two holes. She wrapped up the weekend with one eagle, five birdies, 33 pars, 11 bogeys and four double bogeys.

Vania Simont finished in a tie for 48th with a 17-over 233 (77-79-77). The Mexico City, Mexico native finished the weekend with seven birdies, 27 pars, 16 bogeys and four double bogeys. Ellise Rymer tied for 50th with an 18-over 234 (76-81-77). She logged four birdies, 34 pars, 11 bogeys and five double bogeys.

The Pack finished the tournament with the fourth best par 5s average (4.92) and birdies (39).

The NC State women's golf team will play in its second tournament of the spring, sixth overall, at the Daniel Island Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston. Tournament play will take place from Monday, Feb. 24 to Tuesday, Feb. 25.

NC State is one of 14 schools in the field, as well as one of two ACC squads. The field features five top 50 teams and six squads sitting inside the top 100.

The tournament at Daniel Island Club is a par 72, 6,026-yard course. The teams will tee off at 8:45 a.m. on Monday for a shotgun start, while the final round is set for Sunday at 9 a.m. Teams are set to play two rounds for 36 holes on Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday.

Marie Eline Madsen will play at the No. 1 spot. She leads the team with a 71.13 scoring average with nine rounds at par or better and five rounds in the 60s. She has placed in the top 20 in all five tournament outings, coming off a tie for 16th with a 4-over 220 (76-71-71) at the Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is No. 125 in the WAGR and No. 51 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd Rankings.

Lauren Olivares follows at the No. 2 spot, sitting second on the team in scoring average at 72.47. Olivares Leon has seven rounds at par or better, two rounds in the 60s this season and has 10 top 10 finishes in her career. She is coming off her second straight top five finish with a 4-under 212 (70-73-69) at the Collegiate Invitational in her home country of Mexico. She is No. 49 in the WAGR and No. 71 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clipped Rankings.

Vania Simont will follow by playing in her sixth tournament of the season. The junior has a 75.60 scoring average and her score has counted in all 15 rounds played this season. She is coming off a 17-over 233 (77-79-77) to tie for 48th at the Collegiate Invitational.

Jaclyn Kenzel will make her first appearance in the lineup this spring and will play in her third tournament this season. She has a 79.00 scoring average this year. In the season opener at the Cougar Classic, she finished with a 23-over 236 (79-77-80).

Caitlin Whitehead wraps up the lineup, making her fourth tournament appearance this season. She has a 75.67 scoring average this season and finished the fall season with a 7-over 223 (72-73-78) to place in 42nd at the Landfall Tradition.

Lea Ludwig will play as an individual this week. She is logging a 76.89 scoring average this season, while coming off a tie for 46th with a 16-over 232 (73-80-79) at the Collegiate Invitational.
