Page Marsh, who has served as head coach of the NC State women's golf program since its re-establishment in 2000, has made the decision to retire effective immediately.

Darby Sligh, who joined the Wolfpack staff in June 2018, will succeed Marsh as the program's next head coach. Sligh just wrapped up her fifth season with the Wolfpack after previously serving as the head coach at Illinois State for 11 seasons (2007-18).

"After 24 years, the time has come for me to retire from an extremely rewarding career here at NC State," said Marsh. "I am so proud to have witnessed all the growth and incredible achievements these student-athletes have gained on and off the golf course. Thank you to all who have enriched my life in so many ways. I wish everyone associated with NC State continued success as you navigate the path to fulfill your dreams."

The 2002 ACC Coach of the Year has helped lead the program in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. She guided the Pack to 11 team tournament wins, 19 NCAA Regional Championship appearances and four NCAA Championship team berths over the last 23 years.

"Page's impact on our women's golf program and on NC State Athletics as a whole transcends the team's results on the course," said Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "She has been an incredible mentor and inspiration to our student-athletes, and her legacy will be shaping not just great players but individuals of great character. We extend our deepest gratitude to Page for her contributions to our Wolfpack family."

Marsh's impact as a leader has extended to the individual level. Eleven Wolfpack players have won tournaments with her guidance, highlighted most recently by Lauren Olivares Leon's victory at the Briar's Creek Invitational last March.

Overall, Marsh has coached two All-Americans, 13 All-ACC selections and the 2012 ACC Rookie of the Year. Fourteen players who competed for Marsh in her tenure at NC State went on to compete on the professional circuit, including two LPGA players.

Academic success has also been a strong point for Marsh's teams, as shown by 2 WBCA All-American Scholars, 17 All-ACC Academic Team honorees, the 2014 ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year and the 2023 Elite 90 Award winner.

Marsh also helped with the 2008 completion of Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State's first on-campus home golf course designed by Arnold Palmer's Course Design Company, and was a part of the recent 2023 addition of a short-game area at the course.

Marsh has served in a variety of roles within the golf world as her ties to the sport and the conference run deep. A native of Jamestown, N.C. and a graduate of North Carolina, Marsh was a four-year starter and team MVP for the Tar Heels from 1981-85. She was a multi-time All-ACC honoree and played professionally in Future Tour events and the Women's Florida Golf Tour following her graduation from UNC.

She was also a six -time North Carolina Women's Amateur Champion, a five-time Women's Carolina Amateur Champion, the 1989 North-South Amateur Champion and a three-time U.S. Women's Open competitor.

Marsh comes from a golfing family as her sisters Sheree and Amber both played collegiate golf. Her mother, Linda, was also very involved in amateur golf and served on the Women's Committee of the USGA. Aside from her responsibilities in the golfing world, Marsh is the proud mother of twins, Emma and Rachel.

The Pack's upcoming spring opener at the Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico, will mark Sligh's first tournament as head coach for the Wolfpack.

I was just outside of Lima Ohio at the Colonial Golfers Club about twenty years ago and walked in the pro shop to find they had these collegiate golf bags. I ask the assistant pro if they had an NC State one and they did. I bought the bag and got home and saw it was a "Page Marsh" bag. When I met her at a WPC event, I ask her about it. She was shocked I found one and of all places Lima, Ohio.
